Weleda = smells like heaven
I was gingerly walking the exhibit hall at BlogHer12 in New York City last month, talking to exhibitors about their latest products, playing with their games, drinking their coffees, when I stopped dead on my tracks: the sweetest smell engulfed me and would not let go.
Within seconds I was transported to my favorite spa. My best friend Pam takes me, on my birthday, to the Burke Williams spa. It’s a special treat, of course made even more special by the person who accompanies me. As soon as the doors to the spa open, the sweetest, calming, nurturing, soothing smell welcomes you into the oasis.
What I was smelling in the middle of the busy aisles of the conference was the same thing! The magnificent smell overpowered everything else (in a good way)… the subtle, humid sweat of the 5000 bloggers in attendance, the smells of different foods and beverages being prepared and/or served… even the chatter somewhat seemed to decrease down to a murmur. I’m not exaggerating! In fact, here, I tweeted about it right there and then, see for yourself.

Of course, I immediately proceeded to introduce myself to the lovely ladies manning the Weleda booth from where the heavenly scent was emanating, and, of course, pestered asked them for samples. I was not disappointed AT ALL. Not only did it smell fantastic on me, their body lotion was in fact chalk-full of awesome ingredients that made for a supple, smoother skin. You see, Weleda pioneered the use of biodynamic and organic ingredients in skin care, because they believe that beauty isn’t engineered in a lab — it’s something that should be cultivated right from the earth without pesticides or chemicals. How about that?

In a lotion, I first look for the base oil, the one that is the basic ingredient and the most in volume. If it is mineral oil, I won’t buy it. I want a natural oil in my lotions and skincare. Weleda delivers that.

I am like everyone else it seems by reading these comments. I want to feel soft without the lotion just laying on my skin, and the scent is very important. I am very picky as to match the scent with the season as well. Some people think i am a little wierd about it but as much as I love lilacs I dont want to smell them in the fall. Everything from dish detergants, to oils for my burner, and of course lotions and soaps, all of it has to smell like the season I am in. Thanks for including me!

I must say that I am a massive fan of Weleda skin-care products, especially their Soothing Almond line (as I have dry and somewhat sensitive skin), and admire their tenacity to produce such high quality all-natural lotions & creams. What I look for in a body cream/lotion are several things: First, I like to know that most of it comes from organic or all-natural ingredients, such as flower, leaf, root, tree extracts & oils. Another major aspect of a body cream is its consistency. I don’t like creams/lotions that are greasy and sit atop the skin without being absorbed by the epidermis… you know the ones that, when water touches the lotion, you feel it sliding off so easily as it’s only just rested on your skin rather than moisturizing properly. I live for body creams that feel as though my skin “drinks” up the product immediately upon application. Furthermore, I always check to make sure my creams do not contain any parabens, mineral oils, DEA, bad sulfates, & propylene glycol in them. Lastly, and equally important, is that the cream is cruelty free & does not test on animals. I just adore all living creatures on this planet and find it quite revolting that human beings can use them for product testing.

I look for a good body moisturizer that leaves ones skin soft and hydrated by using more natural ingredients, along with no unpleasant residue or scent. If it is scented, it should be subtle.When you get a whiff of scent (as opposed to a cloud) it should make you feel good and uplifting. I want a lotion that is all natural considering that my oldest daughter gets very dry sensitive skin and and all other lotions I have tried on her burn her skin. I personally would like a lotion that is quickly absorbable, non-greasy, smells nice and is very hydrating. Something that I can use on my face, body and hands. I also suffer from ecezema and it is very hard to find something that works well on myself and my daughter!

As I do not care for artifical fragrances, I look for anything scented with essential oils. I use the weleda rose body oil and it smells like heaven! Even if I don’t win I am getting some rose lotion (as soon as my local health food store gets some in!)

I LOVE Weleda products!!! All of their products smell, feel, and just are amazing!! They smell great on you because they are all natural! Other lotions that I’ve used always left a really terrible chemical smell on my skin, but Weleda is like a dream come true and I can’t get/use enough of it. I ony wish they made shampoo and condition because I would buy them all the time. But back to lotion, I love that Weleda lotion is light and and leaves my skin softer than any other lotion i have even used. I have smelled all the lotions too and none of them give you a headache like the ones at many popular retail stores in the mall. To sum it up… I am OBSESSED with Weleda!!!!!

I look for several things in a body lotion. I need to make sure that it isn’t too sticky and absorbs completely so that it doesn’t interact with the humidity where I live. I look for skin soothing ingredients and those that are as natural as possible. I also look for scents that are not overpowering but that still smell great. Finally, I look for a price that seems fair to both the consumer and the company with regards to the ingredients and manufacturing. These look amazing!

I got learned this from my mom, bless her, to look for lotions that did not contain any fragrances. The fragrance irritated her senses and now that I blog about natural skincare, I know synthetic fragrances are bad for your skin anyway!

a body lotion is not only about the good smell or the apparent moisture it provides. It is about how the active ingredients it is made of act in your body. It should be like a medicine to you, with trust worthy ingredients. From a company with good ethical conduct, not only towards animal testing or labor laws, but towards the whole cycle involved in the making of the product and the necessary materials/ingredients which come along the steps of final product.

When i look for a lotion i read the ingredients. I make sure there is no harsh chemicals in it and then i smell it to make sure it smells good. I usually try out testers if available to see if its sticky or if the lotion is more like water. I like a lotion with good consistency and rubs in well.

I wish they made the matching body spray for these body lotions, Lisa, oh wait, maybe they do. Then it’d be easy to add more of the fragrance without having to re-apply the lotion. Good luck!

When it comes to body lotions, I like ones that are moisturizing without being greasy. It’s also important to me that they are not full of chemicals, so I look for products that are made from natural and organic ingredients.
