A runway-worthy makeover for your hair: glam hair products by Matrix

Friday Finds (review + giveaway): Matrix hair products

Matrix hair products: glam hair set - Behavioral ChildRecently, Matrix (a division of L’Oréal) sponsored Mercedes Benz Fashion Week’s “Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show”. Backstage, the Matrix hair product team gave a few lucky moms a whole new look, transforming straight hair into voluminous curls. My Friday Find this week is the set of Matrix hair products used in this runway-worthy makeover: the Silk Wonder Smoothing Oil, the Design Pulse Mega Dust, and the Total Results Curl Super DeFrizzer.

Since I just cut my hair in a really short do, a certain 9 year-old was more than eager to volunteer as my model. Between you and me, her hair is much, much nicer than mine. Look at all those natural highlights! Mine are totally man-made :)

Matrix glam hair product set, runway-worthy makeover in minutes

The Fashion Week team was led by Matrix Artistic Designer, Robert Santana who said, “We’re here to  help create individuality and beautiful hair because that’s what Matrix is really all about – beautiful hair and making moms feel great in their own skin.”  That was easy to achieve with their three secret weapons, the glam hair set of: the Silk Wonder Smoothing Oil, the Design Pulse Mega Dust, and the Total Results Curl Super DeFrizzer.

Wanna see how easy-peasy it is to go from blah to glam in minutes? (Note: we only glammed up a small section of Emily’s hair, but you get the gist of it)

Step 1: Prep hair with the Matrix Silk Wonder Smoothing Oil to add shine. It repairs  frizzy hair, split ends, heat-damaged and swollen cuticles for a smoother hair.

Step 2: Curl hair with curling iron, set hair in pins to cool.

Step 3: Once cool, take hair out of pins and apply the Matrix Design Pulse Mega Dust throughout the curls. It’s a very fine dust that vanishes in your hair but gives it the ultimate lift. Ideal for back-combing and no-slip up-dos, it’s easy to use, traps products in and gives fine hair some righteous volume.

Step 4: Apply the Matrix Total Results Curl Super DeFrizzer to smooth out curls. It uses the Anti-Frizz Nutri-Curl Technology™ with jojoba oil and wheat protein, which is a fancy way of saying that it takes the stubborn frizz out of curls and gives you rounded, well-formed curls.

Step 5: Back comb the curls with your fingers. And ta-da! Glam hair in minutes, literally.

  34. 2 weeks ago, I wanted a trim but the moron hairstylist chopped it off AND DIDN’T KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING. I had to go get it fixed at another location and it’s short like a boy. The guy who fixed it said that one side was 2 inches longer than the other :(

It was my biggest hair problem to date. But usually, the problem is frizz!

  35. My hair doesn’t want to tame itself and it’s always frizzy.

  52. mitch fj said :

my biggest complaint is my frizzy curly hair.

  53. My biggest hair complaint is how frizzy my hair gets in humidity and flyaway in dry weather.

    • I have so much flyaways now that I have more hair breakage than before (probably due to not enough vitamins in my diet). I feel your pain, Deb. Thanks for participating and good luck!

  54. Diana Devlin said :

My hair is very fine – I have lots of it but each strand is super-fine. So it’s really easy for products to weigh it down and it’s hard to create volume. Also, the longer I grow it, the less shine it has – I want my hair to be more glossy!

    • The grass is always greener: I have curly hair and would kill for straight hair. The shine? that’s the easiest thing to fix – hint, the orange bottle pictured above ;) Thanks for participating, Diana, and good luck!

  55. Caitlin chapman said :

    Flyaways!!! Sooooo frustrating.

  56. My hair has wave bit its frizzy and flat alot very hard to style.

  57. Connie Lee said :

My biggest complaint is winter hair. It has static electricity in sometimes, especially if you pull a sweater over your head.

  58. wanting more curls, less frizz!

  59. Deb Anderson said :

My biggest problem is thinning hair. It breaks easily and has no volume anymore. These products sound perfect for me!

    • You just described my hair, Deb. If I keep losing any more hair, I’m gonna have to switch from products to… hats! Thanks for participating and good luck!

  60. maria alvarado said :

That when I straighten my hair it gets frizzy again 30 minutes later.

  61. tiffany gallehugh said :

I can not control my frizz..

    • Seems like you’re in good company, Tiffany! I cannot stress enough how easy they are to tame with the Super Defrizzer. Thanks for participating and good luck!

  62. I think my hair is too oily. Or when it’s windy it become frizzy. I LOVE Matrix products. :)

  63. sheena Eaton said :

My biggest hair complaint is my frizzy curls! I love trying new looks and it is very time consuming to have to blow dry then flat iron my hair, and to just take a curling iron to it to create the beach curls or looses curls is a pain.
